About Ibiza- The Island

Ibiza is small, tiny in fact at less than 30 miles high and about 15 wide. It has just over 100,000 residents (who live there permanently) but every summer flocks of clubbers, holidaymakers and seasonal workers flood its shores.

That Ibiza is relatively tiny tends to work out well for holiday makers as it means all the main attractions are situated around the 2 main centres of San Antonio and Ibiza Town (which are about 10 miles apart or a 10-15 minute taxi) or within easy travelling distance.

Hiring a car is a great idea if you want to explore Ibiza a bit deeper and hit the less touristy beaches but if you're just going for the nightlife and are happy with the main tourist beaches and hotel pool you won't have any problems getting about using public transport or taxis.

The island itself is located off the East coast of Spain in the 'Balearic Islands' next to Mallorca and Menorca. Ibiza falls under Spanish jurisdiction (Spanish law, police etc) which means dispite boosting its own unique identity visiting Ibiza is much like visiting a part of Spain in terms of the level of ammenities you can expect and the development of the tourist industry. Basically its pretty safe, you probably won't want to drink the water and anything you could hope for as a tourist is likely to be catered for!
